Ms Seema Upadhyay has 24 years of experience in development sector, which include community development, health, livelihoods, and organizational development. She has worked with the government, NGOs, research institutions, and donor agencies managing various programmes. Ms Upadhyay has previously worked with the Seva Mandir, Udaipur on community development; Institute of Development Studies, Jaipur on issues around food security and agriculture; Social Policy Research Institute, Jaipur on tourism, water, power and agriculture issues; CHETNA on maternal and child health programme in Rajasthan; District Health Society, launched NRHM in Jaipur district and guided its implementation; UNICEF Rajasthan for documenting maternal and child health interventions and best practices in Rajasthan; and ARAVALI, Jaipur on building institutional capacities for working with the poor in western Rajasthan. Over eight years with the AGCA Secretariat, and working closely with the state NHMs, she has successfully demonstrated some of the innovative approaches of community action for health (CAH) including capacity building approach of RKS members in Uttar Pradesh; piloted innovative community participation and feedback mechanism for Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs) in Assam; and facilitated piloting social audit on health in Meghalaya. Her contribution in conceptualization and development of guidelines, and Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials at the national level has been significant.
Ms Upadhyay holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management from the Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA), Gujarat, and a Bachelor of Science in Botany from Delhi University.
